A shadow’s direction, length and depth drift slowly through the day, updating about every five minutes. In the morning it stretches out with soft edges. By noon it has shrunk to almost nothing under the icon.

Idea
Light never stays put.
We wanted your Home Screen icons to feel like small things sitting on a wooden desk. When light comes in through the window, they cast shadows.
The sun moves, and so do the shadows. Give it a few days and a glance at your Home Screen will tell you whether it’s morning or afternoon.

iPhone and CarPlay, same light
CarPlay icons get shadows too, falling the same way as on your Home Screen. Get in the car and the light still matches the time of day.
Smartisan-style skeuomorphic theme
A set of skeuomorphic icons in the Smartisan style. The theme is its own package, so removing the engine leaves the theme alone, and the other way round.
